Week 2 Fantasy Overachievers
A look at the players who exceeded their projections in week 2
)

Here’s a look at some of the players who most outscore their projected fantasy points in week 2 of the 2026 season. The projections are from Fantasypros.com and all the scores are based on PPR scoring.
The Injury Effect
Davante Adams scoring 39.5 vs 14.9 projected (+24.6) - I’m putting Davante Adams into the Injury Effect category because it was the injury to Puka Nacua that led Matthew “The Kingmaker” Stafford to focus all his attention on Adams. This is not to take anything away from Adams, who is fantastic, but it just goes to show that if Nacua isn’t an option then Adams becomes the instant # 1. And hoo boy did he show it, outsourcing his projections more than anyone else this week.
Tre Tucker scoring 22.9 vs 8.9 projected (+14.0) and Cody White scoring 16.4 vs 0.5 projected (+15.9) - Utilizing the same logic as above, these two Raiders wide receivers are on this list mainly because of Brock Bowers’ injury. Is it fair, to have Tre Tucker here, considering he is the team’s #1 wide receiver? Probably not. But it is absolutely fair to have Cody White, who I’m pretty sure was not known by anybody reading this before this game. Bowers is set to return next week, according to rumors, so if I didn’t put these two here I would certainly have put them in:
The Flash in the Pan
[Note: I have a vivid memory from high school of my PE teacher calling the Foo Fighters a flash in the pan. He was wrong, and I freely admit that I may be wrong here, but these are players that seem unlikely to continue to exceed expectations.]
Ryan Miller scoring 14.7 vs 0.0 projected (+14.7) - Who? Seriously, I am a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan and… who? Now, I’ll admit that I purposefully have not been paying closely attention to them this season (why should I give a fuck what they’re up to if they don’t give a fuck?), but still… who?
The Debutant’s Ball
These players are coming out to the world and oh aren’t they beautiful?
DeVonta Smith scoring 27.7 vs 15.1 projected (+12.6) - Devonta Smith being good is news to no one but the big question coming into the season was: can he be the #1 receiver on the Eagles now that A.J. Brown is gone? That question was not answered in week 1, but it did seem to be answered this week with his 10 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief and quit eyeballing Dontayvion Wicks on the waiver wire.
Travis Kelce scoring 25.1 vs 11.2 projected (+13.9) - Wait, how is the 36 year old multiple superbowl champion husband of Taylor Swift in the debutant’s ball category? Because after a couple (relatively) down seasons we all thought he was (relatively) cooked. Heck, he was being drafted outside the top ten tight ends in some fantasy leagues coming into the season and yet here he sits: the TE2 this week. With 9 receptions for 101 yards and a TD, Kelce has re-announced himself as tight end royalty. Speaking of tight ends…
Dalton Schultz scoring 26 vs 9.8 projected (+16.2) - The #1 of the week was on a Houston Texans team that not only has been struggling offensively, but actually lost this game. Heck, the Texans didn’t even score a touchdown against the Bengals, but that didn’t stop Schultz from chalking up 140 yards on 12 receptions. With most of the Texans wide receivers injured, Schultz will likely remain a focal point in their offense for a while, if not all season.
“No duh’ We should have seen this coming
Josh Allen scoring 40.8 vs 23.2 projected (+17.6) - Yep, he did it again. I may eat my words but I doubt he’ll be pushing 40 points every single week but this particular week was a high scoring one against a porous Lions defense. Speaking of the Lions…
Jared Goff scoring 29.8 vs 16.9 projected (+12.9) and Amon-Ra St. scoring 35.2 vs 19.1 projected (+16.1) - No Jamyr Gibbs on this list yet… give it time. In the meantime, these two did pretty good against the Bills, despite losing. Josh Allen was a man possessed so I think we can give them a pass… the Lions’ next opponent is a lesser AFC East opponent and they will get no passes if they lose that one.
CeeDee Lamb scoring 35.3 vs 18.2 projected (+17.1) - Guess who’s back? Back again? CeeDee’s back. Tell a friend… just not George Pickens.Okay, that’s not fair, Pickens had 8 targets while Lamb had 9. The difference is, Pickens turned those 8 targets into 6 catches for 40 yards while Lamb turned his 9 into 8 catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns. I think things will eventually even out between these two, but Lamb has reestablished himself has the #1.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba scoring 42.5 vs 18.8 projected (+23.7) - No Darnold, no problem. This man is a beast. 9 receptions for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns makes him the highest fantasy scorer (in PPR) of the week.
